Living Care Pharmacy provides a range of services specifically designed to help you provide the best possible care for your patients. We have worked closely with care homes for over 40 years and understand how important it is to be both flexible and reliable.
Many nursing and residential homes find it hard to get the service they need from their pharmacy. We have listened very carefully and have developed our care home pharmacy service which can be tailored to suit the needs of your care home.
At Living Care Pharmacy, we work with your teams on workload planning and delivery to ensure deliveries are as efficient as possible.
Monthly medication can be delivered 4 days before they are due, with acute medication being delivered either the same day or next day depending on when the prescription reaches the pharmacy.
Due to our extensive network of branches and delivery networks, we are able to deliver medication to your care home outside of the normal working day hours.
We know you want to give the best possible care to your residents and also meet your regulatory requirements – so our Care Homes Medicines Management can help you meet the demands of a busy Care Home. Care homes must demonstrate they have all the necessary processes in place to meet these demands. Therefore, we work with you in meeting and maintaining these standards.
Living Care Pharmacy partners with GP surgeries that support your care home. The aim is drive to efficiencies in processes and time when assessing residents needs.
By working with your team, we can establish which medicines system supports you best – with safe, effective medicines management as required by CQC Outcome 9, SCSWIS, CSSIW or RQIA.
Training and compliance is vital in any care home. Well-skilled staff are more efficient, effective and have the motivation to confidently complete tasks in a timely manner – giving them more time to dedicate back to residents. Assuring and demonstrating compliance is fundamental for any care home to grow as a business and enhance occupancy rates – that’s why every course is interactive, relevant, fun to use and captures the individual’s attention.
Face-to-face - Training sessions will be taught by a fully qualified pharmacist who will follow the updated version of the original PCT training guidelines standard including medicines and legislation updates.
eLearning - Staff can benefit from learning in their own time without taking time away from caring. Not only is e-learning cost effective, it is a flexible approach to help ensure that organisations maintain a safe, competent and legally compliant workforce.
All medicines dispensed (even urgent and out of hours supplies) will be supplied with pre-printed paper MAR charts or pre-populated electronic MARs with the cycle times completed. All MAR charts show known allergies and any other relevant clinical notes. We also supply cream and patch administration MAR charts.
Paper MAR - Training sessions will be taught by a fully qualified pharmacist who will follow the updated version of the the original PCT training guidelines standard including medicines and legislation updates.
eMAR - The eMAR solution is designed to not only replace paper based MARs but also to provide new insight into how medications are ordered, managed, wasted/disposed of and ensures that they are administered on time to those who need them. This reduces drug errors, increases transparency through robust audit trails and gives care home staff more time to provide direct resident care.
We offer all of the different options for dispensing medicines at your care home, single item blistered rack systems, weekly dosette trays, Biodose dosage systems, or in original packs. The choice is yours and together we will choose which system you think will suit the needs of the patients in your care home.
